Tutoring Plus is a community
service program that provides academic and enrichment services to
partner schools in the New Brunswick Public School (NBPS) district.
Rutgers students awarded Federal Work-Study funds are assigned to
Tutoring Plus to work as tutors in the general classroom, in after-school arenas, and in one on one tutoring sessions with struggling students. TutoringPlus coordinates with the Rutgers Future Scholars (RUFS), in order to provide added support and mentoring to students involved in this program. TutoringPlus Mission Statement To provide academic
support and instruction, while bolstering confidence and enjoyment of
educational experiences, in the high school, middle school, and elementary
school settings. To work in
conjunction with Rutgers University Future Scholars program to provide
assistance to students involved in the RUFS program, in order to maintain
exceptional grades, so that students may obtain acceptance to Rutgers University
and therefore receive full scholarship reimbursement. To build rapport with New Brunswick elementary, middle, and high school principals, teachers, and students, in order for Rutgers tutors to serve as ambassadors of the school,thereby positively influencing the New Brunswick community.
