Job Descriptions

  At TutoringPlus we provide many opportunities for tutors to pursue their personal interests in content area and age group.  We also provide upward mobility, and promote exceptional tutors to positions of Coordinators, who help run the program and coordinate with participating schools and principals. 

TutoringPlus High School Academic Mentor/Tutor Positions:

            Tutors can be undergraduate or graduate students, who wish to provide tutoring in specific content area (ideally Mathematics or Language Arts), in a high school setting.  Tutors will work closely with Rutgers Scholars, students who are in ninth grade and who are striving to maintain quality academics in order to acquire admittance in the future to Rutgers University, as a part of the RUFS program.  Tutors provide general assistance to the classroom teachers and instructional support for students, as well as academic encouragement as mentors.  Tutors may also provide one-on-one and small group instruction to Rutgers Scholars outside of the general classroom.  This position is ideal for students who enjoy working with high school age students, who have unique skill sets, or an in depth knowledge of a specific content area. 

 

 

TutoringPlus Middle School Academic Mentor/Tutor Positions:

            Tutors can be undergraduate or graduate students, who wish to provide tutoring in specific content area (mainly Mathematics), in a middle school setting.  Tutors will work closely with Rutgers Scholars, students who are in eighth grade and are newly part of the RUFS program, in which a high academic quality must be maintained to  attain admittance to Rutgers in the future. Tutors provide general assistance to the classroom teachers and instructional support for students, as well as academic encouragement as mentors.  Tutors may also provide one-on-one and small group instruction to Rutgers Scholars outside of the general classroom.  This position is ideal for students who enjoy working with middle school age students, who have unique skill sets, or an in depth knowledge of a specific content area.  

 

 

TutoringPlus After School Academic Mentor/Tutor Positions:

            Tutors can be undergraduate or graduate students, who wish to provide tutoring in specific content area outside of the school setting, during an after school program.  Tutors will work closely with Rutgers Scholars, students who are in eighth grade and are newly part of the RUFS program, in which they must maintain quality academics in order to acquire admittance in the future to Rutgers University.  Tutors provide instructional support for students in areas in which they need extra assistance, as well as academic encouragement as mentors.  This position is ideal for students who enjoy working with middle school age students, who have unique skill sets, or an in depth knowledge of a specific content area. 

 

 

TutoringPlus Coordinator Positions:

            Coordinator positions are available to graduate students and promoted returning staff only.  Coordinators provide supervision and guidance for tutors as well as coordination with schools and school representatives.  The position is ideal for students who possess good organizational, managerial, and interpersonal skills, and who have an interest in supervision and education.  Coordinators require a working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word, and Webpage Design would be ideal.  Coordinators need to be excited about the Tutoring Plus program, and willing to get involved to make the most of the program for themselves and all those it influences-students, tutors, school officials and staff!
